37% rural youth sans Internet access: Study
In January, the Versova police had initially refused to register a senior citizen’s bank fraud complaint because its sole officer equipped to handle cyber crime investigation was away for training. To avoid such instances in future, the Maharashtra police has decided that all officers will have to undergo a refresher course after every two years so that they are updated about new crime investigation techniques. “It will help the officers to deal with investigations more professionally, create more specialized officers and improve conviction rates. We started the initiative some time ago and are gradually implementing it across the state,” said K Venkatesham, additional director general of police (training).
