Assam rights panel orders probe into ‘cop atrocity’

Taking suo moto cognizance of an alleged atrocity case, the Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has directed the Morigaon district administration to start a probe into the alleged assault by an Assam Police official on a young woman at Moirabari area in the district recently.

In her FIR lodged at Moirabari police station, the victim alleged that the police official hit her on the face causing her nose to bleed heavily.
