Bihar Human Rights Commission (BHRC) on Friday rapped an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for initiating proceedings under 107 CrPC against a dead man and directed the state home department to pay Rs20,000 compensation to the widow for human rights violations and agony she suffered.
According to a petition filed by Ravindra Kumar, a resident of village Bikram in Patna district, his uncle was trying to take possession of his agricultural field by razing the boundary. “The petitioner had requested Bikram police for intervention. But, instead of providing any help, ASI Munga Lal Singh, under influence of the opposite party, submitted a report u/s 107 CrPC to the SDO against the petitioner and his late brother Lal Bihari Mahto,” BHRC member Neelmani said.
