Notions about cyber security often draw up images of a villainous looking individual attempting to wreak havoc across commercial establishments and high value targets. Cyber security experts state that the nature of the game has changed and personal data thefts are gaining traction.
The February 2015 attack on American health insurer Anthem Inc, which compromised personal and financial information of millions of customers came just ahead of a similar breach in Canada. There have been several data breaches since then where celebrities have been targeted. Cyber security companies state that the black market for patient data is up to twenty times more valuable than that for stolen credit card data and is sold to marketing companies.
