There are around 5 billion connected devices in the world, which are expected to grow to 26 billion by 2020 as internet of things (IoT) gains traction, says an estimate by technology major Ericsson.
The growth would be led by growing number of smart devices run on digital platforms with sensors and radio frequency identities. This is expected to create huge opportunity for the companies involved in the creation of these products and providing solutions to help others switch to the latest technological platforms.
The growth and opportunities for Indian companies, both public and private, would be equally significant as the country tries to keep pace with the growing developments in the IT and technology space, with the launch of the digital India campaign both by the government and by individual companies.
